About SHALA

Nagoya-born, London-made, Living in your Internet.
SHALA is an artist using pop music to challenge beauty standards, identity, and power in modern society. Her viral debut “Random Ass White Girl” sparked global conversation on Eurocentric ideals in Japan, amassing over 21.8 million views across social platforms.
Beyond music, SHALA is an established professional Dancer and Choreographer who has worked at the highest levels of global entertainment, collaborating with world-renowned Artists and Creatives.
Her newest work, the short-film-style music video “Never Find Out,” expands this activism into cinematic form. The project explores ethnic homogenization, yellowface, whitewashing, and the hyper-sexualization of Asian women, confronting long-standing global stereotypes through provocative visual storytelling. The film features performers Yurié Collins and Joshua Japan.
With the release of her debut LP ‘WaBisAbi’ and a second album currently in development, SHALA positions herself not simply as a Performer, but as a cultural voice - one that challenges dominant narratives and demands space for complex, unapologetic representation.
